Trier is one of the most underrated and less famous than most German city. It has many Roman artifacts and cool museums, bars, and more sights. It also holds some great wine fields. The city is a must see when in Germany and it perfect combines with the city and country of Luxembourg. Keep reading if you want to see the sights of Trier.

 

1. Admire the amphitheatre of Trier

The amphitheatre of Trier is one of the absolute highlights of the city. It is built around 200 years AD and the ruins are still visible and easy to visit. You can even the cellars underneath the amphitheatre itself. Since 1987 the sights in a Unesco World Heritage sight. The only downside is that there could be more information.

2. Enjoy the gorgeous Kaiserthermen

Another fantastic Roman artifact are the Kaiserthermen. In the past they were bath houses, to relax in, but people also had massages and played sport and now it is great to visit for a moment. It was built in the 4th century AD, and it still stands proudly in the city in Trier. I would say there are better Roman artifacts, but a visit is nice.

3. Enjoy the vineyards 

One of the coolest things about Trier are the many vineyards around the city. You can do hikes between them, have some great tastings or just admire them from further away. Riesling is the most common grape used here, and that makes that a lot of wines are sweet or semi sweet.

Price: Depending on what you are doing, but hiking is free.
